About Us
At Zeru Foundation, we are focused on bringing the skills, tools, and resources necessary for self-empowerment to disenfranchised families. Our work endeavors to support all communities impacted by displacement, trauma, and systemic inequities, but has historically focused on those affected by the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake in southeastern-Turkiye.
In partnership with local, national, and international organizations, we have crafted data-driven educational interventions for child and parent refugees alike, as well as early relational health trainings for health-care professionals. We are also utilizing GIS technology to map Medical Provider Burnout and Turkish & Syrian Refugees Vulnerability to Post-Earthquake Traumatic Stress in the earthquake relief region.

In an ancient Mesopotamian language, Zeru means “seed,” which represents the idea that even the smallest act of empowerment, like our inaugural “Empowering Women to Shape the Future” training in Gaziantep, can grow into flourishing communities, nurtured by the very hands that once sought guidance. Our non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization relies on a robust group of professionals that involves collaboration with the greater Turkish and U.S global-community.
